Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Control contact causing the compressor not to work properly?
Coronado Hot Point Mod. RC148BRT The aluminum freezer box only has only the right side showing any frost. It is still functioning but of course is not as cold as it should be. It is running very quietly and constantly, I do not hear the normal cutting in and out as the compressor responds to temperature. I have had trouble in the past with the control switch attached to the compressor. I have had to clean up and make some repairs to this switch from time to time to enable it to start up the compressor properly when the temperature gets above the thermostat setting. I understand it could be a loss of refrigerant or a faulty compressor but I wonder if this switch could finally be on its last legs and therefore not delivering sufficient current to the compressor?
No if the compressor starts at all then it has enough current and it wouldn't be the switch. I'm afraid your fears are correct, sounds like a system problem to me. Whenever we see a partial frost line it means a system problem. Either the compressor or a leak. Sorry to give you the news, take care now.
