Unit cycling on and off
I have this Sears Coldspot refrigerator that has the following symptoms:
1. The air is cool, not cold.
2. The motor is running blowing cool air.
3. The compressor turns on but clicks off a few seconds after and clicks
on and off every few minutes.
I suspect it is the compressor switch/relay. Any suggestions ? Can I still get spare parts for this 16 years old refrigerator ?
Your suspicions are right, it sounds to me also that the problem is in the starter.
16 is actually not too old for a refrigerator, so new replacement parts are likely still available.
If yours has a start capacitor mounted on the side of the compressor, chances are that's all you need.
Try your local sears parts center for OEM parts or there are new solid state devices which take the place of the original starter components, available at most appliance parts stores. Try part number RC0-410.
