Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Wire came off of compressor terminal

We have a 1971 COLDSPOT Top freezer unit on which the compressor unit quit working last night. I removed the cover on the RELAY? unit in front of the compressor and found the RED wire attached but the WHITE Wire with a Female Spade connector NOT ATTACHED, and do not know where this White wire belongs. There are 2(two) Male Spade Connector ENDS Sticking out from the unit but both are TOO Large for the female end on white wire, to even fit onto. There is also a shiny steel Pin sticking out from the front of unit which appears to have had something attached to it. Would this (Pin) be where the White wire should be attached to????

Yes that's where the white wire goes.

I find it strange that it would have just come off though. I'm thinking it came off when you removed the cover and you likely have something else as the cause for the problem. Of course you should try it back on first to see what happens, but if you have further problems the starter mechanism can be easily replaced, instead of using original components there is a device called a hard start pack that replaces all the original starter components, and adds advantages to the start circuit.
