Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Door not shutting tight
We have a double door from Sears. The door on fridge side does not shut tight--is it the seal? Only 10 yrs old and never had a fridge do this.
If the seal is not torn you likely just need an adjustment. Loosen the screws underneath the seal down the side that doesn't close. Give the door a twist so it contacts all around and tighten the screws in the appropriate position. This may take some trial and error to get it right.
Thanks for your reply-will try the screw adjustment but confused how you twist a big door?
The door won't be higher than the reach of your arms. Once the screws are loosened, just grab it by the top and bottom and give it a twist. You could also place a book or something at the top or bottom (the side that needs to come out and push the other side against the body of the fridge. This would twist the door.
