Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Freon free refrigeration?
I've heard there are fridge’s made in Germany that do not use Freon
Is this true? Where can I purchase one because I don’t want to have any of this poison in my home! Thanks Fridge Dr.
Actually all new North American household refrigerators don't use Freon any more. The new gas is called 134a and apparently has no ozone depleting substance present, the real reason Freon has been banned.
Freon never did harm anyone. In fact they still use it in puffers to propel medicine directly into the lungs of asthma sufferers. It was just deemed to harm the ozone layer which is still just a theory that many still believe was politically motivated by biased chemical companies for economic corporate greed.
Do we know the long term unforeseen effects of 134a? You may be better off with a chemical we know is not harmful to us. Just my opinion.
