Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Got Freon in the face!
Last night I managed to poke a hole in the bottom of the freezer compartment of a 5.5 Cu. ft. refrigerator(Summit CT 65 J ). As you know, and I learned, what I assume is Freon gas came whipping out at me and hit me in the face. As a result, I have some questions:
1)What are the effects of my direct exposure to the Freon? Should I see a doctor?
2) Is there any way to fix the refrigerator, even a unorthodox/temporary method?
3) If so, does your book describe how to fix it?
Thank you for your time and help!
No danger of harm to you, and unless you got it in your eyes you don’t need to see a doctor. If there were medical consequences I would be dead by now after all the Freon I've breathed. At any rate there was more Freon in a can of hair spray or deodorant in the 70's than there is now in a manual defrost refrigerator.
Sorry, but the only way to repair this is by a certified technician. The book or video doesn't cover these types of repairs because of all the laws and regulations out now due to the ozone hole theory.
