Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
A simple fix for a common problem
Just a note to tell you how my ice maker was fixed---I had to call the Sears repair man, and he fixed it in 3 minutes----Cost $49.00 for the routine service call.
The front of the ice maker (where the motor is located) has a plastic cover, which I did not know was removable. Anyway, pop off the cover and 2 plastic gears with teeth stare you in the face. The set screw in the smaller gear loosened and the gear slid out of position, thus not allowing the tray to rotate and dump properly.
He pushed the gear back into position and tightened the screw. Also, he unplugged the ice maker and dumped the ice in the tray to start the process over fresh again. He then plugged it back in, and ice has been dropping ever since. You could tell others of this happening. Jake
Thanks for passing this on.
