Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Ice but no water dispenser
I have a Kitchen Aid model # KSRF26DSALYO and the water dispenser just quit. No water. I have checked the supply water and it is on. The switch to the light works and clicks like normal operation. Is there by any chance a solenoid valve in there somewhere for the water system? The ice maker dispenser next to it seems to be working fine and the ice production is normal. Can you give me any ideas?
Yes, yours should have a dual solenoid at the back near the bottom which your water supply line attaches to. Perhaps the wire plug came off of it on that side, or the solenoid is burnt out or clogged with sediment (do you have a filter on the water supply?).
Anyway you could test the solenoid by supplying 120VAC to the individual coils. If they work that way then it could be the switch in the dispenser unit. (not a job for the mechanically light hearted)
