Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Solenoid clicks but no water coming up

I have an Amana conventional 20 side by side refrigerator/freezer with a factory installed icemaker. I do not have the actual model number, but it's about 5 years old. The icemaker stopped working. The unit itself seems to be working but it looks like it's not getting any water supply to make the ice cubes. I can still hear it the unit clicking open to let the water into the unit, but no water is coming in. I checked the water line to make sure it was getting water and that seems to be OK. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the spout that comes through the back wall to the ice head freezes over on these.
To clear this out use a hand held blow hair dryer and check to see if there is a kink or restriction causing this to happen in the first place. If not a plugged spout, turn off the supply water and disconnect it from the fridge. Put the pipe in a bucket and check to see if water is in fact getting there. Perhaps someone has installed an inline filter that may be plugged. This happens often.

If no restriction on the supply line, reconnect and remove the tube up the back where it enters onto the fitting that goes through the back wall. You could put this in a bucket and wait for the ice head to call for water.

So once you get this far you should be onto the problem or have a darn good idea what is going on with it. Just dig in and do it. Things are meant to come apart for repairing them.
