Water doesn’t stop running, unit was disconnected for 3 years
Dear Fridge Doctor, When the water to my Amana ice maker is turned on, it doesn't stop.
The ice maker was working before I bought the refrigerator and moved it to my house. It has been disconnected for two or three years.
Is it the solenoid at the base of the fridge? When I check for power, it doesn't get any, no matter what the freezer compartment switch is doing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Yes I would say the solenoid is the problem. The diaphragm may have ruptured or stuck or dried out when it wasn’t in use for those years. This happens quite often with solenoids even on dishwashers and washing machines. The resolve would simply be to install a new one.
