Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

What causes the ice maker supply line to freeze up?

My automatic ice maker is not working....I found that the problem is the water is frozen in the tube going into the ice maker. Could you please tell me how to defrost that tube to get the ice out so it will work.

Turn off the fridge and use a hand held hair dryer. When this happens this is sometimes an indication that the freezer is set too cold. Try a temperature range from between 5 to 10 degrees F. Also, sometimes this tube will freeze up if it’s not sitting in the right position in the cup that feeds it into the tray. If the spout is too close to the edge a drop of water stays behind each time it fills until it’s plugged up altogether.
