Evaporator damaged because of sulfur in water supply?

Kenmore side by side, we have had our refrigerator for 3 years. Sears technician said the coils were damaged by the sulfur in our water and we would have to buy a new fridge. Can the coils be replaced?

Evaporator coils can be replaced but it could be pretty expensive. Most evaporators or system components, other than the compressor range in the 150 dollar price range then the labor for the installation about $120. I fail to see though how your water could damage these. Perhaps you could get a second opinion. If this unit has an ice maker the filter should have prevented sulfur from being there in the freezer section in the first place.
