Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

How do small coolers work that plug into the cigarette lighters?

This is no problem more of a fact finding. I recently purchased 2x portable 12V coolboxes and I am extremely pleased as they work very well , what I would like to know is how do they work ? as they have very compact cooling systems. What is the life expectancy ? Why don’t they build household refrigerators using this design?

These coolers work using a solid state electronic component. If polarity is reversed so is the heat transfer, this is why some can be switched over and used for food warmers also.

This technology has been available since the appearance of semi conductors and at one point were touted as the future technology of compressor-less domestic refrigeration, except for one problem, they work well in this application but if used for larger domestic refrigerators they use far too much power. Life expectancy, I would think almost indefinitely or until the case or other wiring wears out. As with all other solid state components, such as integrated circuits, the chip itself almost never wears out.
