How to make my refrigerator use less electricity?

I have a side by side GE refrigerator, 27 cu ft, about 12 years old. This refrigerator has never needed any repairs. because of the current energy situation here in CA I have begun to monitor my energy usage.

I can not be sure of the energy used by this fridge however it does appear that it is using considerably more energy than the 130KWH/month noted in the user manual. I have cleaned the condenser coils and that seemed to make no improvement although the coils were quite dirty. What other causes might there be?
