Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Is the green substance in the pan related to the refrigeration problem?
I have a Sub Zero Model 561 that has a leak in one of the copper tubes on the bottom of the refrigerator. The freezer doesn't work but the refrigerator does. Greenish stuff has leaked out onto the pan. Could I repair this myself?
If you have a refrigerant leak, no it isn't something you can do yourself. Greenish stuff though is usually just copper rust which is green and it is usually due to condensation on the outside of a copper line, not the refrigerant.
Sub Zero designs often have two different systems, one for the freezer and one for the fridge. This would explain why one is working okay. Do both the fans run for the freezer side when the compressor is on? Otherwise Sub Zero designs are quite difficult for the homeowner to diagnose and repair.
