Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Putting different door fronts on a refrigerator to match the cupboards
Sir, we have small kitchen and require a 24 inch fridge. We are remolding and I want to give the fridge a built in look. What I want to do is attach a metal frame around the door edges with a lip that will hide the edge of an oak veneer I want to add to the front of the doors.
This is how the larger built in models look but you cannot find then in a 24 inch width.
Do you know where I can find the metal strips to go around the door edges. Or have any suggestions.
Sure, the metal strip can be purchased at home hardware and lumber type stores such as Home Depot. I've done this to my own fridge over ten years ago and have had no problems whatsoever. You can get them in gold, black or silver. Go with angle stock 3/4 by 3/4 which will give you enough edge against the door so you can use contact cement, which works well to keep everything in place. With contact cement you won’t even have to drill any holes.
Just a tip for you, it’s never a good idea to be using a drill on a refrigerator because bad things can and do happen.
