Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Replace with another used one logistics

Dear Fridge Doctor: I live in a 15-year old condominium, and my neighbor is buying a new frig. She wants to sell me her old one which is the same make, model, and age as mine. She had hers cleaned and checked by a repairman and it works fine. Mine needs a good cleaning by someone who knows how to clean it so that the water stops collecting underneath the vegetable/meat crispers. We need to move hers down a set of stairs, but I am on the ground level. Question: Is it better for me to pay to have mine cleaned or pay her $100 for her used one? Please reply to me. Thank you.

If they are exactly the same make, model and age, then you need only compare the cost of repair to the moving and disposal or less the price you can get for your present refrigerator. Unless, if yours had this water problem for a long while, harm may have now happened to the automatic defrost circuit from letting the moist condition exist.

In my city, Regina, Sask., Canada it costs about 40 dollars to clean and flush the drain system of most makes and models.
