Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Small bar fridge not getting cold, worth a service call?
I have a Woods brand small bar fridge, which isn't getting cold. The compressor seems to be running, the temperature control dial seems to work (since turning it below 1 turns it off), so the power is certainly running from the outlet through the cord.....so what is the most probable reason it won't get cold and is there a fairly easy solution? If it requires professional repair would it likely be very time-consuming for someone who knows what they're doing? (I'd like to know that so I don't get taken on the labor costs.) Thank you for any help that you can provide.
In this situation a unit like this is usually terminal. This is because they are basically a hermetic system with a control on it. Except for the control or starter any other problem is not usually feasible to repair. Like a deep freeze, if it runs but isn’t cold enough, it’s either a weak compressor or a refrigerant leak. Since both of these are okay on yours the cost to repair it may be close to what it costs to replace it with a new one with a factory warranty, so you’re much better off replacing it.
