I have a textured finish on the refrigerator but it is pitting and rusty. What is the cause for this? What do I to fix it? Sincerely,

Hmmm, that's a good question. You must be in a very humid or salty environment, I've never heard of this before. When it comes to paint on metal though, you just can't beat the knowledge and experience of auto body technicians. You have to find an open minded one though, many of them will react by saying "You want me to paint a what!!"
