Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Condensation forming between the refrigerator and freezer doors
My refrigerator is leaking water on the floor. It appears to be coming from condensation that is forming between the freezer and the seal well and the rubber around the door seems to be in good shape. A friend told me it might be my drain tube stopped up but there is water running into the pan. Is he right? I’m not mechanically inclined, do I need to call for service on this. Any suggestions? Thanks,
The problem may be that either you have your humid switch set in the wrong position for the environment, or perhaps the mullion heater under the strike plate is burnt out.
If your design has a switch called an "econo switch" or "humidity control switch", change it to the other position from which you have it in now.
If no switch you need to call a technician as mullion heater replacement is not for the mechanically light hearted. I’m thinking you also might have a clogged defrost drain system because a burnt out mullion heater will rarely cause enough moisture to end up on the floor unless you live in an extremely humid environment.
