Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Have to keep a bowl in an Amana to catch water

I hope you can help me. I have an Amana 22 ft refrigerator that drops water from the top of the refrigerator section into the main compartment. I can't find the source although I'm pretty sure it is coming from the top mounted freezer section. The unit is 12-14 years old. Everything else works fine but I have to keep a bowl on the top shelf of the main compartment to catch the water. Can you tell me what the problem might be? Thank you for your help.

Sounds to me like you have plugged drains. When your refrigerator goes through a defrost cycle the water that results should pass through a series of tubes and fittings to a tray where it's later evaporated. This tray is situated near the compressor. There should be a clear path for the water from under the evaporator in the freezer to this tray.

The most common reason for the problem you've brought to my attention is a restriction of some kind.
