Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Leaking Amana refrigerator
I have an Amana refrigerator that leaks. I have to put a bowl in the fridge and empty it each morning. The condensation pan on the bottom is bone dry, so I believe there is an object clogging the run off valve for condensation, how do I repair this? Can I access this valve from the back of the fridge or do I need to call a technician? I've tried to do it from the front but it seems very complicated. Thanks in advance for your input,
You’re right, the drains are clogged, it's just a matter of removing them and cleaning them out. To get a tech to do it shouldn't cost too much as there are no parts involved and it usually takes only 15 min.
Amanas are hard to repair no matter what you have to do on them. It's like they are designed not to be repaired. I've always dreaded going to an Amana service call no matter what it is so I sympathize with you on this one.
Here’s an article from my book that explains the principles involved in cleaning out defrost drain systems. Hope this helps.
