Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Fridge moved now the light comes on but nothing else happens

Hello Doctor. Recently, I helped my neighbor move an old refrigerator. Unfortunately, the move occurred before reading your article. Before the move, the refrigerator was working fine. However, during the move, the refrigerator was laid on the side. About one hour later, after arrival to its destination, the refrigerator was then plugged into an electrical outlet. The light inside the refrigerator had illuminated, indicating that the outlet was working. However, all other parts of the refrigerator have failed to operate. There is no noise nor chill from the fridge. Other than the light, everything else on the fridge has been powerless. Is there a reset switch? Thanks for your help.

Hi, perhaps leave it plugged in for more then 20 minutes. It could be in the middle of a defrost cycle. The cycles on these ones happen whether it needs to or not. If it happened to be in a defrost cycle when you unplugged it, you will have to leave it plugged in until the cycle is over at which time it will fire up.

That was it, it started after 10 minutes. Thank you so much, you’ve saved us a lot of trouble.
