Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Refrigerator makes a regular intermittent buzzing sound

My refrigerator makes an intermittent "buzz", almost like a warning buzzer. Initially it lasted for about 2-3 seconds, and I only hear it very infrequently. Now it lasts about 7-8 seconds. Only hear it 3-4 times during the evening when I am home. Everything seems to be operating okay. It is a GE refrigerator - model TBX21JISRRAD with a freezer on top (has an icemaker, but it was never hooked up). The refrigerator is on a carpeted surface (whole kitchen is carpeted) in a recessed "alcove" in the kitchen.

I've heard this before. It turns out, even though the water line to the ice maker is not hooked up, it may be still calling for water. Remove the wires from the top of the ice maker’s fill solenoid, or better yet, disconnect the ice maker.

This client emailed back and said this was the problem and it stopped now.
