Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Fan blows warm air
Hi. Thanks for your generous info service. It's very kind of you. I have a Whirlpool "No-Frost" refrigerator. I'm guessing it's about 20 years old and it's not working. The fan works but it just blows warm air. I'm not getting any cold. Is this something I can repair myself? I'd love to hear any possible solution you may have.
Hi, for some reason or another the compressor may not be starting. If you get right down and check it you may hear what we call "cycling on the overload". This is a click, a pause, then a pop which repeats every minute or so. This can be caused by a cooling fan that doesn't work, a relay, or the compressor itself burnt out. You can check the fan if present by starting it ten times in a row, (it should start each time). Depending on your situation you could try a new compressor starter part RCO-410 and if that won't do it you'll know it's the latter case.
If the compressor does in fact run, in the situation you describe, you have a more serious hermetic system problem. This is something you have to call a technician in for to get a better idea of the cost for repairing this one. Hope this helps.
