Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Fridge was jarred, now not working
Hi, and thanks for taking my question, I have a 4' magic chef that has stopped working a few days ago. It's about 2-3 years old. It sits on a metal cabinet and a few days ago this cabinet got a few good blows, and later I discovered the melting water and found the fridge was not working. The refrigerator itself was not hit. I have tried the outlet which is fine. When I plug it in, there is no noise whatsoever. When I look at the hardware, outward appearances give no indication of trouble. Looking forward to your input, and thanks again,
The jarring could have damaged the control. Unplug the unit, remove the control and short the two wires that go to it together. If it works now you will know it needs a new one. The other thing that could be damaged by jarring is the start relay. If what you did to the control didn’t work you could try replacing the compressor starter. Hope this helps.
