Frosted coils, running constantly and not cooling enough

I have a Hotpoint model ctx18klg that runs constantly and will no longer get cold. I turned it off and let the frost melt from the freezer coils. Any help you could give me on what might resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Did it improve after you had it off to thaw out?

It is doing the same thing again. But the bottom is cooler than before.

After turning a unit off and getting it up to room temperature it will run constantly for 6 to 8 hours, so it may be normal now. Time will tell.

If it is, you likely have an automatic defrost malfunction, (not too serious). What commonly happens is one of the three to four components of the defrost circuit has worn or burnt out. When a frost free refrigerator fails to defrost automatically, frost builds up to a point where air does not flow through the component that provides the cooling inside the cabinet.

At this point you could call in a technician or repair it yourself. I sell a book or video that can help you do this if you are so inclined. More details about this product are back at my web site.
