Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Inglis design works okay for 3 weeks then have to unplug it for 8 hours
I have a four year old large Inglis refrigerator freezer in the top and no ice maker. last year during the summer the fridge part got warm. I unplugged it for 8 hours and restarted it. no problem until this summer. now it goes for about three weeks okay and then starts to heat up. I unplug it for 8 hours and it is good for another three weeks. any idea what the problem is. I live in the country and getting a repair person out is difficult. I am reasonably handy and could check things out if I knew where to start. can you help. Thanks
Your refrigerator has, for certain, an automatic defrost circuit malfunction. That's why it stops working after about 3 weeks, it plugs up with frost and air is then prevented from circulating by the fan in the freezer.
These problems are quite easy to repair and it happens so often this is one of the main subjects of my book or video which are designed to help people, such as yourself, to track down and replace the faulty component.
