Sub Zero was not working well then fan stopped
SubZero side by side; about 17 years old. Doesn't make ice anymore (least of our trouble), but now the fan has stopped rotating at the top of the freezer. Fridge seems ok. Advice much appreciated. Thank you.
If the fan isn't stopped by frost it could just be a worn out fan motor. These aren't too hard or expensive to replace. Try part number UEFM-1.
If it’s stopped by frost, you have an automatic defrost problem. Hard to repair on this design. You might consider calling a tech on this one.
Note: the fan could have been the problem all along as sometimes towards the end of their lives they can be running too slowly to circulate the proper amount of air
