Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

An inexpensive circuit off warning

My freezer is on a GFI circuit in the garage. Also on that circuit has an air compressor on it. Once, when the air compressor cycled on, the GFI popped out, removing the house power from the freezer. That's why I need some sort of local circuit warning. Tried all the major appliance stores for a freezer alarm. A parts store is ordering a battery powered one for $50. However, I tried Radio Shack, and they have nothing. They do have a nifty emergency battery flashlight that you plug into the wall. If the power goes of, it comes on automatically. I bought it along with a 1.5-3 v buzzer. I wired the buzzer in parallel with the bulb and voila! - a visual and audio alarm indicating that the power has gone off at the freezer. Total investment - about $22.

Thanks for your reply and information on how you solved this problem. I'll pass this on.
