Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Fridge ran for 4 hours non stop after tipping it back for cleaning

Hey Doc, Nice to have found your site. I was cleaning out the bottom of our fridge yesterday, I had it tipped backwards at about 45 degrees angle for an hour while I vacuumed out the dirt and fuzzys. I tipped it back up and let it sit for about an hour before plugging it back in. It ran for 4 hours without ever shutting off. Does this sound right? It's only 3 years old, and I didn't lay it all the way down. So at 7:00 A.M. I unplugged it again to let it sit longer hoping it will become right again. Any suggestions? Thank you,

Tipping it back shouldn't have caused a problem, perhaps you kinked or ruptured a line in the process of your cleaning? In this case it will soon stop working.

Or, if it is still freezing in the freezer section maybe it just had some catching up to do.

Frost-free refrigerators run a defrost cycle every six hours or so and normally have four long cycles a day. Even under normal situations a run cycle immediately after the defrost cycle can be over 2 hours long.

So if it is, in fact, still freezing the run time length should return to normal soon.

Thanks for your help, it has returned to normal now.
