Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:

Overshooting the settings?

Hi, we just bought a house and the refrigerator in the house was working fine, except that it was tending to freeze the vegetables. Well my wife changed the settings and it hasn't worked right since. The freezer seems to be working fine and the only fan I can see seems to be working fine. It is a magic chef model RC202T, any help you can give me would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi, your Magic Chef should have two controls, one for the freezer and one to adjust the air coming from the freezer to the fridge section. I’ve often seen the common practice of adjusting the controls too much at a time. These controls often tend to be un-linear. That is, for example, the area between 3 and 4 can be twice the variation as between 4 and 5. When adjusting controls, just change a half a letter or number at a time or you can overshoot the adjustment. Generally you should get the freezer right first (to how you like your ice cream) then adjust the air damper to get the right temp in the refrigerator section. Hope this helps.
