Mini fridge is too cold

I have a mini fridge made by Danby. The model number is DCR050WEY-7. I
can't get the appliance not to freeze all the goods inside even at it's
lowest temperature adjustment. Do you have any suggestions?

Usually this means your cold control is insensitive, but in rare cases on
this design it can also mean a refrigerant leak. The sensing end of the
controls capillary tube is attached to the back wall. This is called the
sensing point. If the unit is low on refrigerant, the sensing point is no
longer placed in the active frost line.

On this design though it's extremely hard to tell even if you have a
pressure gauge to measure the refrigerant levels. Sometimes we even just
install a new control and hope for the best. Since this is an imported
model, you would need a VT9 control kit.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree and this unit is simply a manual defrost design
then chances are even more apparent that it is just the cold control, in this
case you would need a VT1 control kit.

Your input is extremely helpful!

Hundreds of people visit these pages daily looking for information about household refrigeration equipment. Dissatisfied with a particular model or company? Solved a particular problem? Let us know. Even the smallest detail can help so many people.

For example, let us know that your particular refrigerator model had a burnt out freezer fan motor one month after the warrantee expired, then everyone knows that a fan failure on that model is a distinct possibility.
