Maytag popping noise

Last night our Maytag fridge was making the occasional popping sound.
When I approached the fridge I noticed that the sides of the fridge were
physically sucking in. I opened up the freezer compartment and noticed that
the popping noise got more frequent and very loud as well as the sides of
the fridge sucking in at a greater rate.

I immediately unplugged the fridge suspecting a fire. Though I there was
no fire I have yet to plug the fridge back in for fear that it might cause
more damage. Please help!

Sorry but I've never heard of this one before, you may want to consult with
Maytag about this though. I would be very interested to find out what they
say on this so I can pass it on to all the other Maytag owners with the
same problem.

Your input is extremely helpful!

Hundreds of people visit these pages daily looking for information about household refrigeration equipment. Dissatisfied with a particular model or company? Solved a particular problem? Let us know. Even the smallest detail can help so many people.

For example, let us know that your particular refrigerator model had a burnt out freezer fan motor one month after the warrantee expired, then everyone knows that a fan failure on that model is a distinct possibility.
