Is food okay if refreeze it after a thaw?


Freezer door opened for 20 hrs meat got soft. still ice in freezer. Can I
let meat re freeze? Thank you


As long as the meat didn't get above 40F there won't be any harmful bacteria
growing, refreezeing it is possible but will take a lot of the quality out
of it. It would be best to cook it into stews or whatever then you could
refreeze.

Too bad this happened, perhaps you might want to look into a freezer alarm
so it doesn't happen again.
