Long term storage of a refrigerator

I have a mini refrigerator that only gets used when we go on vacation for
2 weeks out the year. How can I store the fridge so that it is working
order and it does not smell or corroded on our visit. **Note: there will
not be anyone to clean or check on it throughout the year.

The best way I know of is to make sure it is absolutely clean and take the
door right off the unit if possible. Otherwise make sure it is left open.
Also be sure to disconnect it from the power supply just in case it has
mullion heaters. Sometimes these don't shut off when you turn off the
control depending on the design.

Your input is extremely helpful!

Hundreds of people visit these pages daily looking for information about household refrigeration equipment. Dissatisfied with a particular model or company? Solved a particular problem? Let us know. Even the smallest detail can help so many people.

For example, let us know that your particular refrigerator model had a burnt out freezer fan motor one month after the warrantee expired, then everyone knows that a fan failure on that model is a distinct possibility.
