Ice maker fails at only 2.5 years

Hi - I have a two and half year old Frigidaire Gallery Professional series
(top mount). The ice dispenser is not ejecting ice. The ejector gear is
forcing. The motor seems to be working fine. Am I looking at a new head and
is that reasonable for a fridge that is only 2.5 years old.

Sorry to say but the new ice maker heads, as far as I know, are pretty well
unrepairable. The older ones we could trouble shoot, find out the faulty
part and replace it, not the new ones though. A shame after only 2.5 years.
This must be unusual though, I haven't heard of any common problems in this
area. Except for a few small differences, most all manufacturers use the
same ice maker now.

Your input is extremely helpful!

Hundreds of people visit these pages daily looking for information about household refrigeration equipment. Dissatisfied with a particular model or company? Solved a particular problem? Let us know. Even the smallest detail can help so many people.

For example, let us know that your particular refrigerator model had a burnt out freezer fan motor one month after the warrantee expired, then everyone knows that a fan failure on that model is a distinct possibility.
