Hello, We have an old Beaumark (by Whirlpool) side-by-side that was
running fine since 1990 from new. It stopped working over-night (We found
that out in the morning when greeted with spilling water when opening the
fridge doors). Well, I got to clean up the fridge after having the fridge
unplugged.
The funny thing I found was: the fridge runs when I plugged it back in.
However, when it has reached the thermostat set point (at "normal"), it'll
stop and never to restart again. I can get it running again if I dial up the
thermostat to "Max", or, dial it back to zero, then to "Normal". The funny
thing is: it will never restart whenever it has reached the preset
temperature. What could be wrong?
PS: when it works, I can hear the fans, compressors, running and it gets
cold (ice cube will form).
Sounds like a for sure case of the cold control worn out. If you want to try
and repair it yourself I could send you out a part and instructions on how
to replace it. To get the right part and the price of it I would need your
model number.
