If the freezing is happening only since the fan replacement then something is suspicious here. I’ve seen some cases where freezing can happen no matter where you set even a brand new control because the fan was replaced with one that blew the air through backwards to what it should. Have this checked first by the tech that installed it.
Otherwise if you don't have it turned up too high on the controls you likely have an insensitive cold control. Coincidence? (it does happen). This problem is solved by replacing the cold control with a new one. Not too serious. Hope this helps.
