Frequently Asked Questions About Domestic Refrigerator Repair:
Too cold and noisy
We have a three year old Frigidaire model number FRT18NRCW2 for the last year the compressor has been making a lot of noise and the refrigerator control thermostat its set in between off and one. Anything more than that and it will freeze food in the refrigerator. We've checked everything in the troubleshooting manual and have yet to find the problem. The door seals are good and the kitchen air temperature is normal. I'm very handy and believe with a little help I can fix it myself. Please reply. Thank You!
You never mentioned if you tried turning the freezer control down, this can make a difference if the freezer is running too cold. If this isn’t the case it sounds to me that your cold control is insensitive. This often happens on this design. You would just need to install a new one. Take the model number with you to a parts store that sells parts for Frigidaire and they should fix you up with a new one. The noise could be related to the problem for if the compressor works very hard, as it does in these situations, it can start getting noisy. Otherwise, I’ve heard many complaints that newer refrigerators are noisy by design. Hope this helps.
