Vintage Frigidaire starts only when push in the defrost button

Hi I have a Frigidaire model f44n18c when it shuts off it won't restart and I have to push what I think is a reset button on the inside of the fridge then it starts right up . Could you please tell me what you think could be the trouble? Thanks.

Hi, not too familiar with this model but if the button is red in color placed near the control, that could be your defrost enable button which may be stuck. If handy in such ways you could disable the button electrically, or if it's visceral to the control, install a new universal style control. In Canada where I live if you were to call a technician in to do this it should cost less then $100.
